The dogs have been enjoying running almost everyday since the snowfall. The trails are in decent condition. We hope the weather holds up for the New Year, lots of snow and cold weather!

Finally ... mother nature decided to dump us a little over one foot of snow!! We couldn't wait to get the sled and have our first snow run of the season. Although I wanted to hook up all six, Koal cut one of his pads last week while running through a field so he's going to be off resting for at least one month until it's healed up well enough to run again.

Naome & Fiery

The dogs have been training down to a few times a week now as the weather is getting warmer and shorter distances and enjoying more of exercise, rollerblading, walking, jogging. As funny as it sounds... I'm anxious to get some snow again and see how these girls perform on the sled!!Noame is working really well. At times, I find, I need to calm her down, she get a bit excited! It's really funny as she is so much like her mother "Kamee", she always carries her tail half way when working! Weird..Fiery is also doing extremely well, she's a quick learner and nothing distracts this girl!!..  I can wait to get my team of four on the trails next winter.. first we need to enjoy a bit of the summer :)

Aero

March 26/05: At lead, Aero, at wheel: left is Acamute and right is Sarge. We took the scooter out, there still is quite a bit of snow on the trailsbut also many bare spots! Spring is here! The dogs ran really well leaving homeat 9:10am and arriving back at 11:15am!

We left again on Easter morning I  (March 27/05)for yet another run this time with only Acamute and Sarge as my brakes on my scooter aren't working well so I figured two is enough to handle! The dogs ran from Wellington to Miscouche and back for a 15 mile run (24 km).

And again.. on Easter Monday (March 28/05), we ventured a different route this time from Wellington to Cape Egmont, it was beautiful as we were following the beach front from Mont Carmel to Cape Egmont, PEI. Sarge was only staying here for a few weeks and I never expected for him to adjust so well so quickly. Thisboy is unbelievable in harness!! I could call him the energizer bunny!! This also finished his requirements for his WTD title.

Skijoring

Skijoring is a great new sport that I am trying out! So far it's been really fun. We finished the requirements for skijoring titles from the AMHL and we are just waiting approval for these. We did a total of 3 legs, 1-10 mile run and 2-15 miles runs to accumulate a total of 40 miles (64 km).

First run was Saturday, March 5/05, a morning run, 10 miles (16km) from Wellington, PE to Richmond, PE, the dogs (Aero & Xera) ran at an average of 6.6 miles/hour, we left at 8:50 am and arrived at 10:20am (including a 5 minute break to get some witness signatures). The trails were beautiful and the weather was great!

Second run was Sunday afternoon from Wellington, PE to Miscouche, PE for a total of 15 miles (24km), again the dogs ran at an average of 6.6 miles/hour.We left home at 1:10pm and arrived back home at 3:25pm. The trails were well groomed and you couldn't ask for better weather!! Unfortuneltly I was half way through the trails when I remembered that I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures on this beautiful day.

Third run was Tuesday morning again from Wellington, PE to Miscouche, PE for another 15 miles (24km). The trails were not broken for the first 7.5miles there were also a few drift on the last 2-3 miles arriving in Miscouche. The snow was wet and sticky and the skies would build up with snow, it was much harder for the dogs to pull and for me to stay steady since the skies kept jerking. Thankfully it didn't rain while we were out on the trails but it was very mild. The dogs still did very well, not giving up and giving it their all. Our average speed was 5.6 miles/hour. We left at 8:45am and arrived home at 11:35am.

After turning around, Richmond, PE Enjoying the sun! On our way home On our way home! Leaving Miscouche

Aero & Kamee

We left in the complete darkness with my new little head lamp to experince the PEI's wilderness at night!! With this year winter weather it's hard to ever get a nice trail to run, especially with the warm weather announced for the next few days!  It was very cold and my feet were frozen but the dogs had a ball. Pictures aren't very good since the camera got very foggy. We completed another 10 mile run (16 km), leaving home at 6:10pm and arriving at 8:15pm. A third leg for Acamute's WTD title.

10 mile run

Kamee & Aero

A ten mile run to complete another leg towards Acamute's WTD title! The trails weren't in the best conditions, icy in spot but the dogs worked extremely well and completed 10 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
