July 4, 2004: First leg for Acamute's WTD, running in harness with Aero
On a cloudy morning on July 4th/04, we headed out at 9:05am for a nice run, 14 degrees celsius, I taught what a perfect morning for a 10 mile run so we were off traveling on the Confederation Trails from Wellington to Richmond and back home to Wellington. We arrived at 11:22am. No snow and warmer weather Acamute and Aero did not seem to mind the weather at all, we took a few more breaks than in the winter time but they were always ready to get back on the trails!!
February 2, 2004 Fourth and final leg towards WTD, Xera & Aero
A mild and cloudy morning, we set off on the trails at 9 am, trail condition weren't the best but good enough for a great run!! This leg finishes Aero and Xera's WTD requirements. I am so proud of both of them, running over 40 miles in one week and a half. Their arrived at our 10 mile mark at 11:05 am.
January 30, 2004 Third leg towards WTD, Xera & Aero
Well.. I taught it was a beautiful morning the sun was shinning, I checked the forcast there was a wind chill morning, I said "What wind?" haha!! Well.. I figured that one out once we got of the trails! Snowdrifts across a good part of the first section of the trail but the dogs ran really well considering! We left our place at 9:07AM, the dogs were excellent showing no signs of even slowing down, very very consistent in their gait. My feet were frozen and I could not feel my face very well but looking at the dogs made the cold seem like it was summer! We arrived back in Wellington at 11:10AM making still very good timing!
January 28, 2004 Second leg towards WTD, Xera & Aero
On a beautiful morning, the temperatures finally hit a high of -11 C, all week tempertures were freezing! At 9:15AM we took off on the Confederation trails making great timing, the trails were nicely groomed, the sun was trying to peak out and a bit of snow was falling. The dogs ran excellent I was so proud of them, much faster than our previous run. We arrived in Richmond to take a 10 minute break and hit back the trails to arrive in Wellington at 11:05AM. I only got a few pictures of arriving at mid point (5 miles) and a short video, the batteries died shortly after!
January 23, 2004 First leg towards WTD, Xera & Aero
We ventured out on a cold day on January 23, 2004 at 2:15pm from Wellington. The only dogs on the sled were Aero & Xera. Following the Confederation trails, to my surprise they were not groomed, not even one trace of a snowmobile!! The winds were blowing and we had 5-10cm of snow on Jan22/04, well the drifts were high, in some place the dogs were up to their neck in snow! But this didn't stop these working dogs, we arrived in Richmond and took a 20 minute break before turning around and heading home. We arrived back in Wellington at 4:30pm.This completes their first leg towards a WTD title. We took many more pictures later in the run, however they did not turn out since the cold froze the lens and they are all blured out!! lol!!
